In the world of TVs, “mono audio” means audio that’s coming from just one channel, as opposed to “stereo audio” which is coming from two. This used to be extremely common in old tube TVs, whose components were so large that they needed to opt for a very minimalist design, one that we’re certain many people reading this are nostalgic for. Well, MonoPlay Casino is also using that minimalis design… though we doubt many would be nostalgic for its interpretation.

The site’s overly simplistic layout lacks many of the menus and features most players have come to expect from a casino, like a VIP program, an About Us page, even terms and conditions! Instead, you can either browse the games or deposit money to play them. Those are your binary options. So… is this new, minimalistic design actually a good thing? Does it make the experience simpler and more intuitive, or does it restrict them for no reason? Join us as we find out!

Bonuses

A casino site’s bonuses are by far one of its most important elements. The welcome bonus convinces new players to sign up, and the reload bonuses help existing players stay loyal and keep depositing. Over our many years reviewing Australian casino sites, we’ve seldom encountered a casino without any promotions… and yet, MonoPlay is exactly that. There isn’t a bonus in sight.

At first, we noticed that there isn’t a dedicated button for “Promotions” anywhere. “That’s odd,” we thought, “but maybe it’s just a visual glitch”. So we manually added /promotions to MonoPlay’s URL, thus accessing its bonuses page, only to be found with a message that “there are no available promotions to show”. So, that’s that. This site doesn’t offer players a single bonus.

What especially sucks is that, as far as we can tell, that’s not the case everywhere in the world. Other countries do have access to bonuses, as well as to the other missing pages (like About Us, Terms & Conditions, etc). It’s Aussies specifically who are given an inferior version of the site. Which begs the question: why should we respect it when its creators clearly don’t respect us?

Games

The first, and only, thing you’ll see when you open up MonoPlay’s website is its games page – so you’d expect them to be good, right? Well, you’d be… more or less correct. Yes, as much fun as it would be to tear apart this site’s games (and believe us, there are A LOT of reasons for that, as we’ll explain further in our review), it simply isn’t bad enough to warrant that. Sure, it’s not amazing. It doesn’t have that many providers, nor any special games like bingo. But we’re still talking about thousands of games, both pokies and live casino. Sure, it’s less than what you’d find on other sites, but it’s by no means terrible.

Pokies

MonoPlay does have noticeably fewer pokies than most other casinos – while its competitors tend to sport games from nearly a hundred different companies, here you’ll find a mere few dozen. One might argue that this is because nearly every provider here is renowned, with companies like EvoPlay, BGaming, BetSoft and Reevo all contributing titles. In other words, it’s all meat with none of the fat that comes with ‘filler’ games from providers nobody cares about.

And honestly, it’s hard for us to disagree here. All of MonoPlay’s categories, like Megaways, Jackpots, or Casual Games (its title for instant win games) are pretty well populated, with dozens, if not hundreds of titles in each one. Do we, as reviewers, wish that we had access to more providers and more games? Sure. But if we were just ordinary players, we doubt we’d have felt any kind of shortage.

Live casino

At a glance, you’ll notice that there isn’t a “Live Dealer” section anywhere in MonoPlay’s interface. As such, it’s easy to presume that the site simply doesn’t offer any such games (and frankly, it’s not an unfounded assumption given just how many features are straight up missing). But after some poking around, we managed to discover that they ARE present, just hidden in the “Table Games” section and mixed up with their non-live counterparts. Why MonoPlay’s designers chose to do this, we aren’t sure, but hey, there are many things about the design that we don’t entirely understand.

In any case, what you’ll find here is a decent variety of different titles: blackjack, roulette, baccarat, even live game shows such as Dream Catcher, which is pretty cool. While the actual number of available rooms is very small, they cover a number of different games and providers (including Evolution Gaming), and anything you can’t find a live room for you can typically encounter as a table game. While this section won’t blow anyone away, it should be enough for most players, especially casual users.

Deposits & Withdrawals

Although MonoPlay’s games are kind of hit-or-miss, its payment options are primarily hits. You can deposit using a variety of different payment options for both deposits and withdrawals, including credit cards, bank transfer, and a small variety of e-wallets (MuchBetter, Ecopayz, Revolut, Skrill, and Neteller). You can even use Paysafecard – we would’ve preferred Neosurf, but even a single prepaid voucher is more than welcome.

MonoPlay also accepts a good number of different cryptos, including not just the bigger ones (like Bitcoin and Litecoin), but also many smaller ones like Cardano, Solana, and Tron. Unfortunately, one currency it doesn’t accept is the Australian dollar. As far as we can tell, Aussies will need to deposit in euro, which is very disheartening. It’s just one more piece of evidence that this site was never intended for Australian players, even if it technically accepts them.

Withdrawal time

Since Monoplay (to its credit) does accept quite a lot of currencies for both deposits and withdrawals, it’s very important to discuss precisely how long it’d take you to withdraw with each one. Just like many other casinos, MonoPlay has a processing time of 1-3 days, meaning you’ll have to wait at least this long before the withdrawal process even begins.

After that though, the actual timing will vary wildly. If you withdrew using crypto or an e-wallet like Revolut, then you have nothing to worry about! These payment options are quite quick, meaning you’ll likely receive the money as soon as it has been dispatched. On the other hand, credit cards will take around 3 days to process the transaction, and a bank transfer can take as long as 2 weeks before it’s finalized. For obvious reasons, you can’t use Paysafecard for withdrawals.

VIP Program

When we mentioned earlier that MonoPlay Casino doesn’t have any bonuses, we did mean that in every way. We’re not just talking about a lack of a welcome offer or reload promos you can claim on Fridays or whatever. No, we mean that there aren’t ANY bonuses here, not even a VIP program. This means that even if you were to deposit AU$1,000 every week for the next 20 years, you won’t see a lick of gratitude from MonoPlay. We wish we could say we’re disappointed, but alas, not much surprises us here anymore.

Tournaments

MonoPlay’s biggest perk, which is also the only one, is by far its wide collection of pokies. Even if the site is a bit dry when it comes to other types of games, you can still enjoy plenty of slots and fruit machines – which, logically speaking, should also mean that you’d get access to plenty of tournaments too, right? Well, not quite. Since the casino is so featureless, not even something as logical as tournaments is included here – which means that MonoPlay’s creators have failed to fully capitalize on even the one thing they’ve done right.

Verification

Considering that MonoPlay’s Australian version doesn’t even contain a simple Terms & Conditions page, it’s hard for us to determine whether the casino verifies Aussie players. But given the fact that they accept payments, anyone with knowledge of the online gambling industry can tell you that they’d need to verify players for payment processors to even consider working with them. Verification (or KYC as it’s more commonly known) surpasses any individual casino, as it’s a law that every site dispensing money to players (and the payment processors that handle these transactions) must abide by.

But in practice, how does it apply to you? Well, once you’ve made your first withdrawal request, you’ll need to submit a few documents proving your identity before that request can be processed. You’ll need a proof of ID (for example, your driver’s license), as well as a proof of residency (like a bank statement, or a utility bill). If you deposited with a credit card or an e-wallet (like Neteller), you’ll also need to verify that those payment methods belong to you – but you won’t need to do that if you deposited with crypto or Paysafecard.

Is MonoPlay Casino Legit & safe?

Many people will argue that an online casino being safe and legitimate is by far the most important thing about it, bar none – forget about bonuses, games, or perks! Well, not quite. We at CasinoAustraliaOnline leave no stone unturned, and so we scoured various public license registries until we found something interesting MonoPlay is, indeed, licensed by Anjouan, and owned by a parent company called Next Global Era Limited. That company owns and operates many other casinos, some of which we’ve even reviewed here on our site! It appears that everything is legitimate… so then, what’s the deal? Why not list that information in the footer? Sadly, we don’t have an answer to this, and if you find that fact too suspicious for you to trust MonoPlay, we can’t exactly argue.

Customer support

MonoPlay’s design is… pretty minimalistic, to put it mildly. If you need to contact its support team, you won’t find a dedicated Support page, not even an About Us where you can get their email address! The one element you WILL find is a pretty large, conspicuous button in the bottom right corner that will open up live chat. The message is clear: “don’t worry about email and other silly things like that, just use chat, it’s the only thing we have!”

So we did just that, and… frankly, it felt like we were speaking about an entirely different casino. The support agent wasn’t sure why we weren’t seeing the promotions, until we specified that we’re reviewers from Australia, which was when they realized what the issue was. That was also when we learned that other countries do get access to bonuses, which was… fun. Anyway, what we’re getting at is that you shouldn’t expect coherent support here, even if the agents were polite and responsive.

Mobile casino

As we’ve well established by now, MonoPlay’s design is extremely minimalist, to put it mildly. You won’t find any pages within its virtual halls besides the games section and, once you’re logged in, the banking menu for deposits and withdrawals. On one hand, this means that you won’t get access to a bunch of different things that are standard for an online casino, like the bonuses. On the other… boy does it make for an incredibly smooth mobile experience.

Just like, well, virtually any other casino out there, MonoPlay doesn’t have a dedicated app you can download and install on your phone. Instead, you’ll need to use the web app accessed through your mobile browser. And by God, this web app could run on a potato! Sure, it’s because it’s so barebones that it’s missing essential elements, but also, that has made it extremely quick, snappy, and using very few resources. So hey, maybe that was the trick to an optimized mobile app this whole time: just erase most of the site!
